COUPLE OF FIRST FOR THE YEAR

I'm on vacation this week so I've been getting out in the mornings to do some detecting.  Monday was a slow day finding just a little clad.  Yesterday - a much better day going on the road and I found a couple of firsts for the year - and Indian head penny and V nickel.  I also found 2 wheat pennies and over 3 bucks in clad.  Today not sure where I'm going but I would like to get out again.

EASTER SILVER

On good Friday I met up with T and tried a couple of spots.  The first area T had found a large cent before but we found little, T did find an old button.  The second spot was a park by T's house where had found 3 Indian head pennies - all in the 1800's.  No such luck - I did manage a wheat penny and clad.
Saturday I went back to a city park where I found clad, a token, I think a musket ball and my oldest coin was a 1940 nickel.
Easter Sunday I tried my wooded area where I had found the 4 large cents this time using a bigger coil.  I hit the area hard but nothing so I hit a park and found 2 mercury dimes, a wheat penny and a nice locket.  My first silver in a while - now I hope I can keep up that trend.

CLAD TYPE WEEKEND

Saturday I went to a spot where a house had burned down years ago - it's all woods now and there was a ton of debris scattered.  Rumor is that when one of the boys growing up there buried money in the yard but I found none of it.  The ground was also still soaked in area due to the rains we had. Now that I know where it is I'll go back one more time when it dries some.  I then met up with T and hit a school and a park, found clad, a couple of wheat pennies along with my first dollar coin this year and a couple of rings.
Sunday I tried some woods then a school finding clad. The weather is supposed to be decent this week so I hope the ground gets a chance to dry up.  Had one of my better nickel finds so far - 9 in all.

HIT THE PARK

I went to a park on Saturday, after all the rain we had the ground was still very soggy.  I did manage a wheat penny, silver ring and clad.  I also met another hunter - J who just started the hobby.  We talked a bit and we met up on Sunday to do some detecting.
We started in the park on Sunday, the ground was better but still has some wet areas.  I found clad and J found a nice gold 10k ring. After a short hunt we then went to J's house where he lives next to some woods - which contain on old stone foundation.  We hunted about an hour and found nothing we then tried a beach area where it was just clad.  J dropped me back off the park and he had another area he wanted to try.  Not much in the way of old coins but I did get a silver ring and lots of clad and maybe a new hunting partner.

BACK TO THE WOODS THURSDAY

I hit the woods again Thursday before the rains on Friday and I found another large cent.  This time I  think it's a King George III.  The detail is shot, no words and little picture.   But it's another to add to the collection and my fourth out of these woods.

QUICK HUNT

I got a chance to get out yesterday - I went to the spot where I've found my latest large cents but most of the area is still buried with snow.  I did find a memorial penny and nothing else but at least I got out.  This week is supposed to be warmer so I hope all the snow is gone by the weekend.

FIRST DAY OF SPRING BUT....

Well today is the first day of spring but with last weeks snow storm no one is getting out to enjoy it.  With 2 feet of snow on the ground it kind of puts a damper on things.  Hopefully it's a warm week and melts the snow - need to get out and stretch my legs - along with swing the detector.
