I did a quick lunch hunt Friday - it was warm but nothing like Thursday.  Only found 55 cents and the ground is hard as a rock again - going to need some rain.  This weekend it's still going to be hot so I will have to venture out early.

HOW TO BEAT THE HEAT - WITH NICE COOL SILVER

I found a way to beat the heat - grab your detector and find some silver.  Yep I found a merc during my lunch hunt yesterday - wasn't expecting it but really appreciate the find.  I found it on the opposite side of the fields where I have found other silver coins.  It was about 8 inches down - now I will have to hunt this side a little harder.  My clad count was 13 cents but finding silver made the day.

3 WHEATS FOUND ON EVENING HUNT

I hit a new area last night - on old church that I got permission to hunt and found 3 wheat pennies #'s79 -81 and some clad.  L met up with me there - There is not a lot of ground -  we both were finding a lot of metal.  Then we went over to a ball park that was used by a school built back in the late 1800's - only found some clad - the take was 91 cents and the wheats.
I've had some good lunch hunts finding decent clad totals - over 2 bucks on Mon. and over a buck yesterday. The next couple of days are going to be hot and humid so I may not be getting out.

ROUGH WEEKEND BUT DID FIND A WHEAT

The hunt started up north at my Uncle's camp at the local high school.  It was hot and the ground was like a rock.  I couldn't dig very deep and with the heat I gave up early only find 38 cents - but did have a good time with the family.  Sunday morning I hit the beach then went to my new park finding a wheat but digging deep for my coins.  Again the ground was so hard digging takes a lot out of you.  My take for the day was over a buck.  It's supposed to rain today - hope it does to soften the ground a bit.  Not a productive weekend but getting out is half the battle.

I've been out - a couple of lunch hunts and some evenings.  I did manage wheat penny #77 in rough shape.  I met up with L last night and hit the park I thought no one hunted but a guy(who hunted this park) stopped by and thought I was his friend who he detects with - go figure - 2 more hunters.  He has found a lot of silver coins and travels and confirmed my suspicion about finding silver on the sidewalk project last year that I drove by but never stopped to ask.  Why didn't I stop???  Never again.  Anyway the last few hunts have netted just under 2 bucks.

FOUND WHEATS 74 - 76 AND SOME SILVER POT

Saturday morning I hit the school where L lives - had a good day clad wise after two hunts finding over 4 bucks in clad and a wheat penny #74 tying me with last years total. 

Sunday I hit a park that hasn't been used in a while or detected.  A home owner came out to talk to me and said he has lived across the park since 1963 and never has seen anyone hunt the park.  It must be true because the coins I was finding were deep - at least 4-5" down and deeper. I did manage 2 wheat pennies breaking last years record and over a buck in clad.  I plan to go back since there is a lot of ground to cover and hopefully there is some silver.  Speaking of silver - I did find an unusual ring - .925 silver with a pot leaf on it.  A ring is a ring and silver is silver.
