MAYBE A 1700 COIN??
I think this is it
I went out into the woods Saturday to the same spot I found my 1837 token. I was hoping for silver but no luck there but did find an interesting coin. I wasn't sure what it was when I found it and it looked really worn. I cleaned it when I got home and at first I thought it was a British coin. But after some research on line I find it to be an Irish coin - I think a half penny by the pictures and the information on the coin. I not sure how long these coins were made - I'm hoping just in the 1700's. Would have love to have a date but I'll have to settle for what it is. I found a picture that looks like what I had found.

OUT FOR THE WEEKEND
The weather was nice for December and I manage some hunts this past weekend. Saturday I hit an area that had some history - was in the woods and only found clad - got to be the kids that go and party - found lots of cans deep.
Sunday I tried some different woods - again with some history and found a token - a 1837 hard luck one - I thought it was a large cent because it's the same size and came up as a penny on the detector. I will post a picture later as I'm soaking it to hopefully bring out some features. Would have stayed out longer but the rains came and ended that. Still trying to find silver - mainly a seated liberty - finding the right dates - just not finding the coin. I hope there is one out there with my name on it.

LOOKS LIKE - WEEKENDS ONLY
I met T on Tuesday to try the woods where I found my latest large cent - by the time we got there and started to hunt it was time to get out of the woods and leave. It just got dark - FAST! Needless to say we didn't have a lot of time to metal detect. My hunting now is going to have to be on the weekends. Can't stand this time of year - then soon enough it's back to maps and research. I don't want a ton of snow but enough to get the tall weeds to lie flat so come spring I can hit some different areas and swing the detector.

BACK TO THE WOODS
Even with the snow and cold I haven't given up yet - I'll be hunting till the ground is rock hard and it's way too cold to go out. Glad I am because I went into the woods yesterday and found my 3rd large cent coin. The only find for the day but I'll take it. This is my 7th 1800 coin this year - a new record for me. I was hoping to find a silver along with the LC but no luck. Will have to go back and try it again this weekend.

FRIDAY HUNT
With the day off I got a chance to hunt before the snow and cold weekend - but the rain came which ended my detecting short. I was going to met T at a park that has some history to it but he got called in to work. I could only manage clad then had to quit with the downpour. We will give it another shot some other time.

SHORT HUNT AFTER WORK
I met my friend T at a place where I've had luck in the past. We didn't have a lot of time since it's gets dark much earlier now. My friend managed some wheat pennies and I found a war nickel and a couple of wheats.
This weekend it's supposed to be cold - I hope I can get out one of the days. Winter is coming.
