PAID TO METAL DETECT

A co-worker lost something so my boss wanted me to bring me detector in and try to find it. Well I didn't find it but did manage a wheat penny and clad. A bonus day - work and metal detecting.

SATURDAY HUNT

Well after deciding where to go I met up with D and we hunted the park where I've had some luck lately. But Saturday the luck ran out - I found a couple of wheat pennies and not much else and D even less. We just couldn't find a spot we wanted to detect now that the city parks are "off" limits.   Hopefully this weekend we will have at least an area to hunt.

4TH OF JULY HUNT

Again I went up to my uncle's camp and did my usual hunting at the local school. I was hoping to get silver this year since I found some wheat pennies there last year. My wish came true - finding my first silver coin there - a mercury dime. Also found my share of clad.

AWAITING WORD

Have not heard anything yet from the commissioner of parks after e-mailing him on Monday. I hope he gets back to me so we can resolve this issue and start hunting in the city parks again.

SHORT HUNT SATURDAY

I met up with D and we started at one of the city parks. About a hour in we were approached by a gentleman saying he was the commissioner of parks saying that metal detecting in city parks wasn't allowed. We told him that we and others have been hunting them for years - he knows and he was open to suggestions about how to allow detecting. We suggested issuing a permit - he said to e-mail him which I did so now I'm waiting for a response.
So we left and hit a couple of schools. D found some wheat pennies and me just clad. Hopefully we can still hunt the parks.

ON DL LIST

I fell at work and messed up my right shoulder so I couldn't get out this past weekend. It is getting better so by this weekend I hope to get out. Boy I hate missing a weekend especially when it was as nice as it was and not due to weather.

HAD A GREAT FATHER'S DAY

I just got my new T handle lesche so I decided to try it out and went back to the park where I found my large cent. I tried a different area and was not disappointed. I found my second walking liberty half dollar, a 1800's V nickel, a rosie and wheat pennies. The only clad coin was a quarter. I say it was a very good morning then came home so the kids could take me to lunch. It was a great father's day.
