FOUND SOME SILVER NICKELS, INDIAN HEAD PENNIES

I'm giving some of my hot spots a rest now - I have hunted them hard so I'm going to other spots I have tried and found older coins.   I did manage a couple of war nickels and a few Indian head pennies. One penny is probably 1800's but is pretty toasty. The ground is starting to dry up and getting harder to cut into now. Plus I'm looking for new places to hunt - hopefully I can find a few.

YEARLY HUNT IN CATSKILLS PLUS MORE

Another father's day means another hunt in the Catskills.   I went on the natural hunt this year finding my first large cent. We hit 4 places with some of the hunters finding some nice coins. On the way back T and I hit a park and we both found Indian head pennies. I did okay in the prize department and went on several hunts for the weekend and finding a 10 dollar bill. I also have some hunts before the event.

The weather has been much better lately and I've had a few hunts. I did get some older coins along with my second seated dime this year (third overall). Also found my first fatty Indian head penny. My treasure hunt is next week so I can't wait for that.

FINALLY GOT OUT FOR THE WEEKEND

The last few weekends have been hit or miss on hunting - either with the rain or something going on. Saturday I hit a familiar spot and did find my first large cent of the year - though not American.
Sunday I met up with J and hit a spot I haven't hunted in years - no silver but did find a buffalo nickel and wheat pennies.   Hopefully the wet weather will happen only during the week and I get some silver.

RAIN, RAIN GO AWAY

Though the temps have been okay, it's the rain that needs to stop. Today it's raining again but me and T still hope to hit a permission spot that's not underwater on Saturday. We do have a back up plan but would like to try this area since it is on a 1874 map.

EASTER SILVER

I'm finally able to post my last weekend's finds - I did manage another silver dime on Easter.   Saturday I met up with T and we hit a park in his neck of the woods. I found 2 Indian head and 4 wheat pennies. The bad thing is the coins are in terrible shape - this park is not nice to the pennies. I think I got one date off the IH's 1891.
Easter Sunday I went to the local park and found silver #12. I'm having a great year in that department.   Hopefully I can keep the streak going.

BIG SILVER - STREAK ENDS

On my last 3 hunts, the first 2 found silver while the last hunt the streak ended. Had to end sometime so I hope I can start another one. I found my first half dollar in a few years - it was nice to see that silver mixed in with the dirt. 11 silvers so far this year - way ahead of last year. I'm also ahead with the wheat pennies.
