A change in the work schedule has me idle for the moment. No lunch hunts and the afternoons have been hot - and today and tomorrow are going to be very hot. I will make some afternoon hunts - just need to find some areas to detect.

SUNDAY HUNT
I went to the school where my wife graduated from. It's the old high school now elementary and it's been around awhile. I had a good clad day finding over 3 bucks and did manage 2 wheat pennies that I needed for my Lincoln cent book. I will have to go back and try it again.

ROAD TRIP LEADS TO DISAPPOINTING HUNT
I decided to take a chance on a park in a different county about 40 minutes away - the park looked promising and some people walking their dog said the park was around in the late 1880's. I got my hopes up in hoping to find an old coin but I was lucky to find coins period. It is a nice size park but very hard to find anything. Another person walking their dog said he sees TH's in the park all the time. Boy he was right and they don't miss much. I only found 78 cents after over 2 hours+ of hunting even by the tot lot. What a waste of a Friday.

SATURDAY A LITTLE BETTER BUT.....
I went this morning with the threat of rain and went to the church where I had found the mercury and wheat pennies. My first find was a 1944 wheat and then a couple of pennies. A guy from the fire station came over and asked if the local priest knew about my hunting. I said that my in-laws went to the church and that I was a responsible person but no dice. He wanted me to contact the priest and ask so I will have by brother in-law talk to him since he was on a committee for the church. So people just don't like us hunters. Later I went to a school but it was too new - I knew I wouldn't find anything old but did manage over a buck and change.

SWEET 16
Found my 16th silver coin today(new best) - must be an omen as my daughter turns 16 also. I met up with the woman(L) who ran into me and my co-worker and we hit a park then my favorite woods. We didn't find much at the park - I found 35 cents and L found nothing. She found a couple of pennies and some pottery in the woods and I found my dime 1947 Rosie - my second 47 this year and a penny.

LUNCH AND PARK HUNTS
Did a quick lunch hunt on Tuesday - it was very hot so I made it quick finding 64 cents and a wheat penny 1953-d, yesterday tried a new park - was hoping the park was old but found out it was a swamp and filled in. I could tell by all the cans and junk I found. I was lucky enough to find over 2 bucks by hunting around the sidewalks. Again the heat was bad and overall the park was not a good area to hunt. Today I hope to make a road trip since I'm vacation.

MEMORIAL DAY HUNT NETS SILVER COIN #15
Went to my sister-in laws for a memorial day lunch and decided to hunt the church in town. The church was built back in the 1800's so I was hoping for some old stuff. I did find a lot of pennies - 4 of them wheat and a mercury dime - 1942 my 15th silver coin this year tying what I had found all of last year. The 4 wheats put me over 50 so far. I also found 2 Canadian pennies - one a 1946 - older than some of the wheats. I plan to go back since I could only hunt for a short time - lunch was waiting.

PARK HUNT LEADS TO SILVER
I wanted to hunt at a rival school but it didn't look like a good spot. So I decided to try a park that came up on the GPS. It was in the middle of no where but since I was there I gave it a shot. Didn't find a lot of coins but did manage a Rosie - 1947,- #14 silver for the year - a Canadian dollar and penny plus just over a buck. It was getting too hot so I had to call it quits. I will get back there again. I did a quick hunt at my daughter's school this evening and found another 39 cents.
