Friday lunch hunt

Tried it again at lunch time - half an hour is all I get so I try and hit the areas I know where I have found the old stuff.  No old coins yesterday - oldest being a 1961 canadian penny and a buck 35 in clad.  3-q, 5-d, 1-n and five pennies - a total of 14 coins.

First Silver quarter

I went to my niece's house to bring things over for her neighborhood garage sale and brought my detector to hunt in her back yard. After dropping the stuff off I made a quick run in the yard. I had a strange signal - decided to dig and found a silver quarter- my first. I would have hunted longer but was getting eatin alive. So I will have to try it again tomorrow.

Lunch hunt yields another wheat

I hunted during lunch again the last couple of days. Found a whopping 26 cents on Mon. and yesterday I found 22 cents and a 1949 wheat penny. There are still there. I hope the silver is there along with them. My take for the last 2 hunts 1-q, 2-d, 2 pennies and the wheat.

Advanced Gold Prospecting Tips

Once you have mastered the basic techniques of operating a gold detector, there are a number of more advanced techniques
and tips that will help you increase your gold finds.
Research
Research is one of the most important techniques for increasing your gold finds. It is essential to research an area before prospecting.
Research will guide you to the best
gold producing areas within a particular region.
Your research should consist of reviewing old records from a region, viewing maps, reading books, talking to local people and
finally checking local libraries, information centres and historical societies.
Research can be 90% of your success. Remember that it doesn't matter how good your gold detector is, if you're not in a
gold producing area then you have no chance of finding gold.

Last few hunts

I made it out a couple of times last weekend. Went to the beach and then out to my place of work. Didn't find anything old but did manage some junk jewelry and about 2.15 in clad.

Good deed for the day

Went to a graduation party yesterday where one of the wives' cousins twin sons just graduated high school. At the party one of her Aunt's and granddaughter were on their hands and knees searching the ground for the little girl's lost toe ring. My wife told her Aunt that I had a metal detector and could find the ring for her. So I went to the van to retrieve my detector and the granddaughter knew just about where she lost the ring. Within a minute I found the ring for her. The Aunt and my little cousin were very grateful - my first "finding a lost ring" and my good deed for the day.

Hunt yesterday

Met up with 2 other hunters and we tried some of my good areas - first the park where I have found 6 rings and the school where I have found silver and wheats. The park had too many people so we decided to hit the school. One of the group found a lot of clad and a wheat penny where the rest of us found squat. I did manage a wheat penny in change I received at Tops after buying a coke. Figures - I get it in change - why hunt?? My take yesterday was 3-q, 2-n and 1 penny for a total of 86 cents.
