BROKE SILVER DROUGHT IN BIG WAY

I finally had a 2 silver coin day and found my first standing liberty quarter.  No date but I will take it - found it where I found my V and buffalo nickels.  Also found my 5th merc dime  1935.  Plus I found an old button, some other items and $4.57 in clad  - 13q, 8-d, 6-n and 12 pennies for 39 coins.  I met one of my followers  - Joe - who lives in Jamesville - he e-mailed me and we met at this school.  He has an Garrett Ace 250 detector.   He found his first silver ring and dog tag - a 1948 license.  He has found 3 indian head pennies and a large cent in his yard.

RAIN

Well it's raining again this morning plus my schedule change means I won't be hunting.  The one good thing about the rain is that with the wet ground the detector seems to go a lot deeper finding coins.  May get out this evening depending on the weather and if I can find a place to hunt.

Short park hunt

Went back to a park where I've had luck finding wheat pennies - 5 total - - still trying to find silver(not again today) and did manage to find wheat penny #6 - 58 overall.   The penny was in the plug which surprised me because I had dug a couple of memorials at least 8 -10" down.  The penny was a 1950.  My take was 52 cents - 4-d, 1-n and 7 pennies - 12 coins. No quarters today.

Strange weather

So far this week it's been warm - good for central NY but as always it comes with a price.  RAIN.  The ground should be nice and soft but very muddy.  May give it a shot today  - just got to find a place to go.  Haven't hunted at lunch time - too dark before I can get out so it's the weekends or early mornings.  Of course by Friday it's back to normal temps.

Broke the wheat drought

I tried a different city school today - one that looked old - boy was there a lot of pull tabs and junk.  I had a very hard time next to the tot lot with a ton of interference and I was using the white's.  So I had to try the field next to the lot - did find some clad.  Then I went to a school where I've had good luck finding older coins - dug 8-9 inches down for a clad dime and nickel.  Then the soccer team showed up so I had to try another school - again where I have found silver and wheats -  I did find a wheat - 1950 about 9 inches down.  I did find a bracelet - looked gold but of course it's not.  My take for today was 8-q, 8-d, 1-n and 9 pennies for a total of $2.94 - 26 coins.

Saturday Hunt

Well I wanted to try a new city park - looks promising but I could not find a place to park.  I circled the park - where to the parents park for games???  I will have to try it again on Sunday - maybe I can find a spot.  So I had to go to a school I really didn't want to hunt but at least I got out.  Manage to find 96 cents -  2-q, 4-d and 6 pennies plus ring #34 - junk.  It's getting harder to find places that may yield some older coins in the city.  I think it's going to take a road trip to try and find places that will give up older coins.
