Afternoon hunt

Went to a school where I had found a couple of wheat pennies.  I managed to find 1 wheat - 1941 and $2.84 in clad.  The loot was 6-q, 11-d, 5-n and 9 pennies  -  29 coins.  I used the delta today - seemed to be working better - I could use the sensitivity around 9.

boy scout medal

I found this a few weeks ago that my friend returned after he tried to clean it - it was found around a house that burned down in 1935.  I found a lot of farm stuff and metal and this was the closest thing to a coin.  The boy scouts were associated with the vets in WW1 - maybe that's why the WW1 type uniform.

Lunch and park hunt

Did a very short lunch hunt yesterday - time to hunt is getting shorter and soon it won't be at all.  I found 1-d, 3-n and 1 penny for a whopping 26 cents.  Today I went back to my new park and searched in the woods.  I found 2 zinc pennies - nothing old - no such luck.  So I went to an old ball field and found clad along with a ring #30 for the year and my 11th silver.  I managed to find 8-q, 4-d, 2-n and 11 pennies for a total of $2.61.  The grand total was $2.87 - 30 coins.

Hunting cancelled due to rain

It has been raining the last couple of days so I haven't been able to get out.  Today is supposed to be another rainy day so I will have to wait until tomorrow which they say it's going to dry out.  If it does I will go back to my new park and try that.

A wheat and oohh sooo close silver

Went back to the park where I previously found 4 wheat pennies.  Found #5 1957-d and I thought was a silver dime. It came out of the ground nice and shiny but with my luck - it was a canadian dime.  UGH!!!  Could not believe it - what the hell is a canadian dime doing here????  So it goes I am still searching for silver.  I noticed too that the further away I get from the ball field the younger the wheat pennies -  what does that mean????  The final count was 1-q, 1-d, 1-n and 5 pennies for 45 cents.

Tried a new park

I tried a new park Sunday morning - the park has some history - it was used as a mill back in 1830's but as luck would have it, I found nothing old.  There is a lot of ground to cover so I will be heading back there again.  My finds for the day were 3-q, 2-d, 1-n and 3 pennies for a buck 3.

Yesterday's hunt

It was finally a nice day here in Central NY,  no rain - sunny but cool - nice detecting weather.  I hit a couple of schools  - no wheat pennies but did find an interesting coin at one school - a mexican coin.  Some kid must have lost if for show and tell.  My haul was 6-q, 12-d, 3-n and 15 pennies for a total of 3 bucks even - 36 coins.
