IT'S SATURDAY AND I DIDN'T METAL DETECT

I live for the weekends and can't wait to get out and metal detect.  But today and the next few Saturdays I won't be out doing my thing.  My son is on the JV football team so watching him play is going to be the #1 priority for a while.  His game was at 10am and on the road so by the time I got back home it was early afternoon but the rain paid a visit.  Will have to try and get out tomorrow morning.

THURSDAY HUNT

I didn't have to work yesterday so J and I hit the road and tried a few spots.  First was a park where D found his seated dime - nothing, then a park down the road - again clad.  So we drove to a park where I had some luck - just clad and another park and a area where a school use to sit.  Clad.  J has the right idea - knock on doors.  So I think our next trip that's what we're going to have to do - everywhere the spots are just getting hunted out.  Need to clean my finds and post.

QUICK LABOR DAY HUNT

Got out to a late start - daughter was home from college - had to bring her back so I didn't have much time to hunt.  I met J and we rode around and asked for permission to hunt some properties.  We did receive permission at the second house - built in the 1850's - hunted for a while and found nothing.  Then back to my hot spot but we didn't have much time - managed a wheat penny and a memorial.  We had some bad storms and the ground was just too wet anyway.  Will try it again soon.  J got permission to hunt a home and found a busted cap dime and large cent earlier.

JUST ONE OF THOSE DAYS

I met up with J and D and another hunter J we tried a school that has been around awhile.  The ground was mostly fill but J#1 did find a flat button.  Not finding much we tried along the erie canal but the grass was too high and a shut down factory but it has a blue state sign saying it was historical so we hit a park.  This park was at a lock along the canal and again nothing.  We hit a park D has hunted before and a guy riding his bike said we could hunt his house which was built back in the 1800's.  Nothing there and only a few of wheat pennies at the park. D and  J#2 found them and then J#2  had to go.  D had another spot in mind and J found a wheat.  Overall the four of us found little clad and just 5 wheat pennies.   The spots looked great but we just couldn't find anything.  Just one of those days.

SATURDAY HUNT YIELDS SILVER

I met up with D and we hunted a park with lots of history.  I've had luck at this park before finding some large cents in the woods.  We hit the park area first - D found a few wheat pennies along with clad and I found a Rosie along with clad.  We then tried the woods but found nothing.  It will have to be a fall project - just too much growth. My total -  5 dimes, 1 penny
