TRIED A NEW PARK

I went to a park where my son had played baseball years ago and forgot about until my wife and I drove by last month.  It has 2 football fields and about 6 baseball diamonds - a lot of ground plus tot lots.  What I didn't know was how bad the drainage is there.  I couldn't believe it when I tried to walk around - the ground was still soaked.  Very disappointing.  I did manage 62 cents and will have to wait a month or so and try it again.

PARK AND LUNCH HUNT

We had a good soaking rain Wed. so I decided to hit my favorite park Thur. since I've had luck finding silver when the ground was wet, but not today - only finding clad - a buck and then a lunch hunt netting 36 cents.

LUNCH AND PARK HUNT

Went to a new park on the East side - not sure how old it is - but will have to get there more often.  It has two ball fields and a football field along with a tot lot.  Found 80 cents and a silver religious medal.  Did the usual lunch hunt finding 49 cents  - 15 coins.

TIP OF THE WEEK - COMMUNICATION

Communication is priceless.  I talk to people whenever I can when I'm at a park or a school, work and my fellow detectorist.   I usually find out about other detectorists that hunted before me  - if the ground has been resurfaced, how old the property is, etc.   I got a tip yesterday of an old school in which I found a couple of wheat pennies. Communicating helps you find more places to search and should increase your quality & quantity of finds.

SCHOOL DAYS

Went to a few schools today - 2 new - 2 old.  Found 2 wheat pennies 1937 and 1952 and had my best day coin count and total cash of the year.   The cash total was $6.38 - 50 coins - 52 total.  I was hoping the city schools would produce some silver but found the wheats instead.
