DID SOME DETECTING

  I have been out the last couple of weekends, but nothing really to write home about.  I did manage a war nickel and wheat penny on Sunday along with lots of clad.  We had a lot of rain the past few days and the ground is a little better for digging.  Hopefully the up coming weekend will provide some nice finds.

HAD SOME LUCK

 I managed to get out with a friend today and we both had some luck.  My friend found a mercury dime, Indian head penny and some wheats.   I found a silver war nickel, some wheat pennies as well along with clad. We really need some rain as the ground is very hard to dig into.

GOT OUT FOR A SHORT HUNT

 I did get out this morning into the woods where I could dig better than being in a park.  Found only clad but at least I got to swing the detector.

I'm Back

 I can't believe I haven't been on for a few years.  Now I'm retired and work part time, I do less detecting than I did while I was working.  I hope to change that and get back to more detecting.   It's been a slow year in 2026, the weather is hot and the ground like concrete.  Only 1 silver so far this year.  Hopefully that changes soon. I'm praying for rain so the ground softens and I don't brake my wrist trying to dig.  Happy hunting to all that are out detecting. 

BEEN A WHILE

 I haven't been posting like I should, now that I'm retired I don't go out as much.  I have found some nice things can't believe this weather - detecting in December.    I'm going to have to do a better job on updating the blog.

GOLD AND SILVER WEEKEND

 

 Saturday my friend and I hit the woods and had a very good day with both of us finding silver and lots of wheat pennies.  The we hit some garage sales.

Sunday I went to a park for a couple of hours and found my first gold in quite a while.  It's a very small 14k ring weighing about 1.86 grams.   I usually don't dig 13 on the equinox because it's mostly pull tabs but I'm glad I dug this.

PAST WEEKEND SILVER

 

 

 A friend and I managed to get out into the woods this past weekend where I found a Roosevelt dime, V and buffalo nickel along with a couple of wheat pennies.  Detecting in the woods now is easy since there is no growth yet from weeds and the bugs are at a minimum.  

 We're going to try it again this coming weekend.

MAGNET FISHING

 Tomorrow is my last day of work then I'm retired for good.  I bought a magnet fishing kit last year and I plan on using it this spring once the weather breaks.  Looking forward to see what goodies I can find.

BACK ON THE BLOG!!!t's

 It's been a while as you know from my last post - my son gave me his old but newer tower to me and I'm just now getting back to blogging.  

I've have been out some but lately the weather has turned back to winter.  Next week is my last work week then I'm retired so I will be getting out a lot more once the weather breaks.  Plus now that I have finally found all my info for the blog.

So I am back and hopefully this year I can put a lot of pictures of my finds.  Happy hunting to all!!

Silver Saturday

 

 

It's been a while since my last post - haven't gone out much because of the weather but I have found a few silver and older pennies.  

I did manage a mercury dime yesterday and an Indian head penny.   The merc is my second silver for the year.  Hopefully after this weekend I can get out more.  I am retired now and work part time so I should be using that time to detect during the week.

 I hope everyone had a very Happy New Year.   It is in central New York because there is no snow and the temps were warm.  Can't ask for anything better for metal detecting.   I did manage a couple of wheat pennies and the usual clad.   But I do live in central NY and the weather is going to get back to winter.

I'M STILL HERE - SILVER AND MORE

 

 It's been a while since my last post, but I'm still getting out and finding some nice coins.  I need to update everything and take some pictures.  Lately I've been on a nickel kick with the wet ground.  The weather is still cooperating and I'll be hitting the woods more now.

 It's been a while since I posted - I'm still getting out most weekends and finding some good coins.  I did manage to find my oldest coin ever - a Roman Nero coin dating back to 54 - 68AD.  I found that one in a city park.  I'm still getting some silver and wheat pennies along with the clad.  I will update the coin total soon as I put the coins in a container in my jeep/

GOT SILVER

 

  I managed to find some silver a couple of weeks ago along with a buffalo nickel.   Last weekend I was up north but didn't get a chance to detect since I was with family.   I also found a very small silver ring plus half of a wheat penny.  I need to do a better job of updating the blog.  Finds lately have been far and few in between.  My phone is recharging so I will get pictures later.
