Strange weather

So far this week it's been warm - good for central NY but as always it comes with a price.  RAIN.  The ground should be nice and soft but very muddy.  May give it a shot today  - just got to find a place to go.  Haven't hunted at lunch time - too dark before I can get out so it's the weekends or early mornings.  Of course by Friday it's back to normal temps.

Broke the wheat drought

I tried a different city school today - one that looked old - boy was there a lot of pull tabs and junk.  I had a very hard time next to the tot lot with a ton of interference and I was using the white's.  So I had to try the field next to the lot - did find some clad.  Then I went to a school where I've had good luck finding older coins - dug 8-9 inches down for a clad dime and nickel.  Then the soccer team showed up so I had to try another school - again where I have found silver and wheats -  I did find a wheat - 1950 about 9 inches down.  I did find a bracelet - looked gold but of course it's not.  My take for today was 8-q, 8-d, 1-n and 9 pennies for a total of $2.94 - 26 coins.

Saturday Hunt

Well I wanted to try a new city park - looks promising but I could not find a place to park.  I circled the park - where to the parents park for games???  I will have to try it again on Sunday - maybe I can find a spot.  So I had to go to a school I really didn't want to hunt but at least I got out.  Manage to find 96 cents -  2-q, 4-d and 6 pennies plus ring #34 - junk.  It's getting harder to find places that may yield some older coins in the city.  I think it's going to take a road trip to try and find places that will give up older coins.

Slow week

Didn't get out at all this week and I hope to do some hunting this weekend.  Rain - change in the work schedule have made it difficult.  Now just trying to find different areas to hunt will be the next step.  I haven't found a wheat penny or silver coin for some time now - I would like to end the drought.

Lunch hunts

Well it's getting to be that time of the year when the sun goes down way too early.  I think my lunch hunts are done for the year.  UGH that means it's going to be winter soon and back on the computer and library for research.

Last hunt

For the past couple of days my work scheduled changed and I haven't been out hunting.  I did manage to try a new park on Sunday - one that has some history but as usual did not find anything old.  A ton of pull tabs and bottle caps though - it was hard to detect because of all the hits.  My take from the park was  4-q, 4-d, 1-n and 6 pennies for a buck 51.

Hunt in the park

I went to a city park that I thought would yield some older coins but after talking to one of the residents that lives across from the park - it would be difficult.  The park had been resurfaced after the micro-burst of 1998.  He said about 2 feet of new soil had been laid down so there went the hunting .  I did manage some clad - 2-q, 4-d, 3-n and 9 pennies for a buck 14.  Guess I will have to keep looking.  I will have to try a different park.
