LAST DAY OF 2011

Well it's December 31, 2011 and I'm hoping for one last day of hunting for the year.  I'm still just under $18 short of my $300 goal but closer than I was last year.   Just trying to think of an area that may have older coins but certainly will have clad.

SANTA DELIVERED A DAY LATE

It's the day after X-mas and I got a nice present - silver finally where I've been finding all the wheat pennies and not just one but 2 - a Rosie and a silver war nickel.  Plus another 4 wheats bringing my total to over 150 for the year.  I found over 2 bucks in clad and a flag.

QUICK HUNT YIELDS 2 WHEAT PENNIES

I did a quick hunt this morning before going to the in-laws for X-mas dinner.  I went to the school where I had found my first gold and lots of wheat pennies.  I found only 32 cents in clad and 2 wheat pennies.  I have yet to find any silver coins there but I may give it a try again tomorrow since the weather is supposed to be decent.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

Merry Christmas to everyone.  Hope Santa is good to you.    Too cold to get out yesterday but it may be warmer the next couple of days so I hope to get out then.     HH

STILL SWINGING

The REAL  December weather seems to come on the weekends.  Saturday was a total cold out as the temperature never got above freezing.  Again during the week it's supposed to rain and be warmer.  

Today it was a little warmer so I went out to a school where I've had luck in the past.  Didn't find much in clad but did find wheat penny #146.  It may have been my last hunt but I'm still hoping for the next weekend.

COLD WEEKEND BUT GLAD I WENT OUT

Saturday was cold and windy but I decided to give it a try anyway.  With no snow on the ground I'm taking advantage of the unusual December weather.  I started at a school but it was too wide open and the wind was brutal so I went into some woods.  Glad I did - I found a SLQ, my second overall and 1st this year.  This one has a date - 1926 -  that warmed up my day.

Sunday I was back to the school - much better today - not as windy and found some clad.  I tried the woods again but no luck today.   Not much of a clad weekend but that's okay - the SLQ makes up for it.

Well I've had my Indian in olive oil for a few days now - looking a little better but still in sad shape.  I will let it sit some more - I am starting to get a little better date on the coin but for the third digit.
