I think the 2014 metal detecting season my be over. Got hit by a coastal storm and it's dumped about a foot of snow - don't think it will be melting anytime soon so I can call it a good year. I can be hopeful but not counting on the weather to cooperate. I will have the total count soon.

SHORT HUNT GETS SILVER
I went back into the woods Sunday for a short hunt - it was cold and managed to find a Rosie and 3 wheat pennies, a nickel and a beat up ring. Only stayed out for a couple of hours but worth it finding silver. Got to take advantage of any chance you get now since the snow will be on it's way along with the cold. Pics are coming

RAIN OUT
Though the temperature wasn't bad - the weather on the other had was not. Rain all day so no getting out. Now it's hit and miss about detecting - having no snow on the ground is a big plus - just hoping it stays that way for a while.

LIGHTNING DOESN'T STRIKE TWICE
I went back to the woods where I had my 4 silver day hoping to find some more. Well lightning didn't strike twice - I did manage a couple of wheat pennies but that was it. I didn't hunt long even though the weather was warmer - the snow was wet and heavy and it was hard to sweep since the snow kept sticking to the coil. I'll go back but went the snow is gone.

A 4 SILVER DAY
D and I decided to hit the park where he found his large cent last week. The snow is on the ground but it's not too deep so we tracked in the woods. Not many signals but when I got them - they were great. I found a walking half dollar, Washington quarter and 2 mercury dimes - the only coins I got tying my best total silver day. D had some clad and wheat pennies. We're going to hit this spot again but hopefully when some of the snow goes or spring. There's got to be more silver there.

A WET WEEKEND
Saturday was cold and D and I hit the woods. We went where I've found 3 large cents, and we tried a different area. Managed some wheat pennies and D found a large cent - in bad shape along with some wheat pennies. Then the rains came and ended that.
Sunday was a much warmer day and we tried some different woods - D found a war nickel and wheat pennies where I found a wheat and clad. Again the rains came but we were disappointed knowing the history of those woods not finding anything old.
