NICKEL KIND OF DAY

It was a beautiful day yesterday with temps in the 60's and getting out again in February.   My first half of the day was spent in the woods, then a park finding only clad.  T gave me a call then I headed out his way.  We tried a place where they were a new library is going in - T found a mercury and that was it.   We then hit a park where I found  2 V nickels and a buffalo in the same hole and T found another mercury.  I also got a toasty wheat penny.   So overall a beautiful day.

COLD, COLD COLD

Coldest day in Syracuse in at least two decades

Record low for Valentine's Day broken this morning.

Clearing skies and diminishing winds over parts of central New York led to record breaking cold Sunday morning. The temperature in Syracuse bottomed out at -23 F this morning making it the coldest Valentine's Day ever in Syracuse.  The old record was -20 F set in 1979.  It is also the coldest day in Syracuse since January 6th 1996 when it was also -23 F.

REALITY

Well after a nice string of warm and snow less days winter has showed up.  Now the ground is covered and it's unseasonable cold.   But it is central NY and it is February.  Still got a big jump from last year now it's on to research.

ANOTHER BONUS DAY

Sunday was even a better day than Saturday so I hit a park for a couple of hours.  Clad was the theme and a cheap ring but again - hunting in February is a bonus day.  Last year we were freezing here - average temp for the month was 7 degrees.   Total coming.

SHORT HUNT

I got out for a short hunt yesterday - yes in February in central NY.  Didn't find much as I hit the woods first then a park and got called away but just getting out this time of year is a huge bonus.  Hopefully I can get out today.

GOT A HUNT IN

With the weather being especially nice I got a hunt in yesterday.  The temp got to around 50 so I took advantage of the day.  I found a wheat penny, clad and my first ring for the year.  I was just glad to be out in January metal detecting.  It felt good to swing the detector.  I'm not sure what the metal of the ring is yet,  I will have it tested.
