ON VACATION - GOT SOME SILVER

I'm on vacation this week and finally got a chance to get out and do some detecting.  I went to a camp where my brother in-law is staying and have hunted before finding wheat pennies.  This time I found something better - a Washington quarter along with 3 pennies, dog tag and a sunoco game token.  At least I broke out of the silver slump.

SLOW WEEKEND

Didn't get much detecting in over the weekend - Saturday I was grounded due to the wife taking my van and my son needing the car for work so I painted the kitchen which I needed to get done anyway.   That was on the list.
Sunday I hit a new park - stayed in the trails and woods - found nothing old.  There is lots of park but didn't want to tackle it since the ground is rock hard.  The place has some history - should be a good fall hunt - will have to venture back.  I think I got over a buck in clad.

Another hot and dry weekend, I should be in the water detecting but I hit a couple of schools again finding over 10 bucks in clad and 4 wheat pennies.  There is some rain in the forecast but not enough to ease the hardness from the ground.  At least I'm getting a coin count total.   I goofed and deleted my pics for Sunday's coin finds.

CLAD, RINGS, CLAD

With graduation, parties and family outings over I finally got a chance to hunt on the weekend.  I tried a school where I've had luck before - I did find over 4 bucks in clad but the ground was hard and very dry - very difficult to dig.  \
Sunday morning there was rain around and I hit another school close by - this time I found a wheat penny - 2 rings (1 silver), 2 canadian pennies and over 5 bucks in clad.  I think I made up for the lack of coins in the past few weeks.  My best clad total in a while.

The past few weekends have been busy with the son's graduation and long weekend (wedding, family parties) I did manage to get a couple of  short hunts not finding much - 2 wheat pennies and some clad but getting out was refreshing.  The ground is hard as a rock with the lack of rain and the heat so it may be back in the water again this weekend.

GRADUATION WEEKEND

My son graduated from high school this past weekend so I didn't get a chance to metal detect.  With his party on Saturday and the graduation on Sunday there wasn't time.  But that's okay - my second greatest treasure in now on his way to college.  My first treasure is senior at college so it's well worth not getting out.

GONE FOREVER

Well I met T after work yesterday to hit the dirt piles one more time but the joke was on us.  When I got there the piles had already been removed.  Too late.  I had some good luck with those piles finding 4 1800's coins including my 3 cent piece.  I wonder what else was in there - I'll never know.
I did manage to find a quarter and penny - that was in the ground under the pile because the bottle caps were plenty.  Hopefully there is another pile of dug up dirt waiting for us.
