COLUMBUS DAY HUNT

I did get a bit for Columbus day - back to where I found the reale. I only found 2 coins, a 1910 wheat penny and a clad quarter. Lots and lots of woods to hunt plus I know it's been hunted by lots of people. Still there are coins there - just got to get the coil over them.

A WEEKEND FOR CLOSER

Didn't get any detecting this past weekend due to the fact my Uncle, who was in the Korean war and missing for years was finally identified and return to my family. The family met Friday night for dinner and the ceremony was on Saturday to lay him to rest. Though it was a funeral - it was a happy occasion due to the fact that he was found and we now know where he is. Now we have closer.

MONDAY HUNT

I had the day off from work yesterday and took advantage of it. I hit a park in the morning and found some clad along with a silver Rosie.
Then in the afternoon I met T and we hit the area where I found the Spanish reale - lightning did not strike twice. All we found was a clad dime and that was at the exit of paths to the woods. Still I got to hunt on a Monday so I can't complain.

ANOTHER BUCKET LIST COIN

Boy do I love detecting in the woods - peaceful and you just don't know what you're going to dig up. I joined a club and got a bucket lister with the same coin. I'm now in the 1700's club after I found my first Spanish reale - 1781 couldn't believe it. I also found a 10 dollar bill so this was definitely a good Saturday. I will return.
Sunday was back to the park. I did manage 3 wheat pennies and over 5 bucks in clad. Using the small coil has helped with the chatter - the park is full of junk but still lots of coins to be found.

GOT A WAR NICKEL

I got in an extra day detecting yesterday when I met up with T. He wanted to try some woods so I suggested a spot and when I got there it was now POSTED. So we tried a different area and the coins were not jumping out at us. I found a nickel and a penny and T did manage a Rosie. When we got back to our vehicles I cleaned the nickel and noticed it was silver - 1943P war nickel. So we both ended up finding silver.

BACK TO REALITY

A week after finding my bucket list coin I was hoping for repeat performance. Not to be - Saturday I hit the park and did find a decent amount of clad but that was it. It was over 3 bucks - nothing old.
Sunday I went North and met a friend, H and we hit some woods with lots of trails. I did manage to find a flat button but that was the only old thing, also finding clad. We will have to wait about a month when the growth goes away and we can hunt right in the woods. Time will tell.

BIG BUCKET LIST, SILVER, CLAD

I met with T on Saturday and he wanted to try a spot he knew in the woods. It was a drive to get there but well worth the trip -at least to me.   Took some doing to get there but when we did my first hit was a big bucket list find - my first ever barber half dollar. I couldn't believe it. We hunted a few more hours finding nothing else then tried another spot that I knew - I found a wheat penny and clad while T found clad.
Sunday I went to the park and tried a different strategy - using a small coil instead of the tornado. I did manage a silver dime and lots of clad. So for me a great weekend.
