FIRST DAY OF SPRING BUT....

Well today is the first day of spring but with last weeks snow storm no one is getting out to enjoy it.  With 2 feet of snow on the ground it kind of puts a damper on things.  Hopefully it's a warm week and melts the snow - need to get out and stretch my legs - along with swing the detector.

QUICK , COLD SUNDAY HUNT

I wasn't about to let the cold weather stop me from missing 2 weekends in a row without detecting so I went back to the spot where I found my draped bust penny.  No such luck Sunday but I did find a wheat penny and some clad.  Now with the winter storm approaching it may be a while before I can get out again.  Bring back February.

ANOTHER BUCKET LISTER

I got a chance to get out yesterday and hit the woods where I've had found 2 large cents.  I managed to find number 3 - a draped bust and my oldest American coin, 1800.  This spot in the woods has been great.   I hope there is an old silver coin lurking about - time will tell.

COLD, COLD WEEKEND

Didn't get a chance to get out and detect this past weekend - just too cold.  I don't think the ground is frozen but that wind was making it brutal on Saturday and never got warm on Sunday.  There's always next weekend - this week is suppose to be warmer. 

NOTHING MUCH TO TALK ABOUT

Saturday I met up with T and we hunted in his neck of the woods.  We started at a very hunted park and found nothing but a couple of pennies.  We then moved to another park before the predicted rain was to come - T did much better finding 2 V nickels while I only found clad.  We quit just in time because on the way home the rains came down.
Sunday was windy and cold and I stayed close to home - I went back to the place where I found my mercury dime last weekend.  No such luck again finding only clad.  But hunting in February is pretty cool.

SECOND SILVER FOR THE YEAR

Took advantage of the holiday with the great weather here in central NY, found a mercury dime, wheat penny, flat button and clad.   Love seeing silver in the bottom of the hole.

WINTER STORM

Well the region just got hit with a winter storm that dumped about a foot of snow.  Safe to say that detecting will be postponed for a bit but it does give me some time now to do some research and talk to people about getting permission sites.  Also I can caught up on some overdue work around the house.
