I must be getting old - the dry hard ground and the heat have taken the fun out of me for detecting. Oh I still got out but only for a couple of hours each day of the weekend. I want to try my new coil in some old spots but would like the ground to have some kind of moisture and with hunting season opening Sunday I won't be in the woods much. Rain and cooler weather are in the forecast so that should breathe some life for the next hunt. I did get a wheat penny and the usual clad this weekend.

AN EXTRA DAY OF HUNTING
I didn't have to work yesterday so I got in a couple of hours of detecting. I"m still trying out my new coil for the Racer 2 and hit a local park. The ground is rock hard and it was quite warm but I did find 2 wheat pennies, a key and clad. Not sure where I'm going this weekend yet but it may be the woods where the ground may be a bit softer and shady.

JUST YOUR AVERAGE WEEKEND
I received my new coil for the Makro racer 2 - 15.5" x 13" Thursday so I wanted to try it out this weekend. I hit the park by T's house but it limited because of pop warner football but I did manage a wheat penny and lots of clad. Some of the targets were deep but the ground is dry - praying for some rain.
Sunday I hit a local park and ran into 2 other hunters. It was slim pickings but I did get 2 wheat pennies and not much else. I'm on a Canadian quarter run though finding 3 in my last few hunts. Not much rain in the forecast this week so I'll hit some more areas where I've had luck in the past maybe finding something I missed.

A LITTLE BETTER WEEKEND
Got out for a few hours both days of the weekend - I did manage to finally find some older coins. Found a buffalo nickel and a couple of wheat pennies along with the usual clad. I need to find some new spots although Saturday I did try some a new area in the woods. May not be finding lots of coins but at least I'm getting my exercise in.

ANOTHER SLOW WEEKEND
Not much to write about again but I did get out to do some detecting. Saturday I hit the woods where I found my Spanish reale but this time not such luck. Only found some clad.
Sunday it was raining but I went to the state fair with my daughter - had some good eats.
Labor day I hit a couple of parks - again clad but I did get a silver bracelet under a root. It is marked "sterling" but looks weird - not sure what it is.

A CLAD WEEKEND
Well last weekend I had found silver for the first time in a while and this past weekend - back to reality - all clad. Saturday I hit a couple of places that D and I used to hunt and had some luck. The ground is very dry - I will hit these places again once the moisture gets back.
Sunday I started in the woods finding lots of memorial pennies then I hit a nearby school adding more clad to the total. I did get over 5 bucks though.
