With the past storm we had last Wednesday which dropped about 6 inches snow and the cold weather - the detecting season for 2017 may be over. But this week it's supposed to warm up some and this coming Saturday temps may hit 50 degrees - I may just try and sneak a day of detecting then. It's also supposed to rain Saturday but hopefully later in the day. If not, I had a good year and it's back to doing research and trying to get permissions for spring. Keeping my fingers crossed.

NOTHING WARMS UP A COLD DAY LIKE SILVER
This past weekend was a cold one but instead of hot chocolate to warm you up - finding silver warms even better. S and I met up with T and hit the park by T's house. My first dig was a barber dime then reality set in - finished with finding 3 wheat pennies and clad. S found a canadian half dime and an Indian head penny plus wheats. The wind was cold but we managed through.
Sunday the wind was brutal and much colder. S and I had the same idea - we went later in the day and met a local park. I did get a mercury dime and couple of wheat pennies - love finding that silver - that made the day. S didn't have the silver touch Sunday. Hopefully it's not over for detecting but it's close. We'll have to wait and see.

A NICE SILVER WEEKEND
Saturday I traveled up to T's area and hit the park next to his house. I had some luck finding a barber and mercury dimes along with 3 wheat pennies. I'm surprised I found the barber because the VDI numbers were low but the sound of the hit was nice.
Sunday I hit a local park with S and we both had luck finding silver. S also found a buffalo nickel and 7 wheat pennies and we found the usual clad. So overall a nice silver weekend.

COLD, SLOW WEEKEND
I met up with T on Saturday and we hit the park again, this time it was just 3 wheat pennies and clad then the rains came so that ended the hunt. We're both thinking there has to be a seated in there somewhere from the old coins T has pulled from there - and we are still trying to get a silver quarter which has eluded us.
Sunday was wet and cold and I met up with S at a park where I found 3 large cents. S found some clad while I was shut out - just couldn't find anything. Then we went to a school close by finding clad. By noon it the wind was just too much and we called it a day. It was cold, wet and muddy. Overall the 4 days of hunting brought in over 7 bucks in clad, 2 silver dimes and a few wheat pennies.

ANOTHER MERCURY DIME
I met up with T by the park near his house and we hunted there for a bit. I managed to find a mercury dime, silver ring, wheat penny and clad while T found clad. Then we went to his son's house - one on a 1874 map and things turned around. T found an Indian head penny and SLQ while I found clad. My oldest find was a flat button and a 1948 Jefferson nickel.
Today I plan on meeting T again in the park.

THANKSGIVING SILVER
I hope everyone had a pleasant Thanksgiving and trying to recover from football and dinners. I got out for a bit in the morning and hit a local school - I did manage to find a mercury dime and 2 wheat pennies ( 1 is 1909) along with some clad. It was cold but worth it when you find silver.
Today I plan to meet with T and hopefully hunt a permission that's on a 1874 map. Maybe we can find some goodies.

PAST WEEKEND HUNT
Things have been a little busy the past few days - finally getting around about last weekend. I met up with S and we hit the local park again. S had a real good day finding silver and 2 gold pieces of jewelry while I found a cheap ring and 5 wheat pennies.
Sunday was a wash out so I worked around the house putting insulation up in the attic. Hopefully that will help stop the build up of icicles around the roof. A couple more days of work then 4 days off. Plan on doing some detecting.
