WHEAT PENNY #73 - RING #10

The coins are down the last few hunts but I did manage to find wheat penny #73 - one less than all of last year and junk ring #10 and 2 game tokens.   My total clad was under 2 bills.  With the rain yesterday hopefully the ground is a little softer - digging was getting to be no fun.  I plan to hit some areas I hope lead to some older coins - time will tell.

LAST FEW HUNTS

I started the fourth holiday with a hunt at a school in L's neck of the woods.  Did okay finding well over 2 bucks in clad - 2 wheat pennies and a Susan B. dollar.  Had party at the in-laws then met L at a park on the hill.  Didn't find much there about 22 cents.  I had my usual lunch hunt yesterday finding only 21 cents and no wheat pennies - breaks my streak.  Overall found over 3 bills. I did have my best nickel count in a while finding 7 total.

WEEKEND HUNTS

Saturday morning I started out at the beach - again not a lot just 99 cents in clad.  Then I hit a new park - much ground to cover but only found some clad.  There is a school on the same road coming home so I hit that and again found just clad. Ended the day with about 2 bucks.
Sunday I went North to a new park - hit 2 schools and another park.  Found around 2 bucks again - no old coins even though one of the parks looked promising.  This evening I went back to the school I hit Sat. and finally found a wheat penny #70 and over 2 bucks in clad better than I did all day Sat and 4 areas Sun morning.  I keep going farther away from home to try and find new spots to hunt - hope it leads to some good finds.

I went back to the park where I found my 1917 wheat to hopefully find another or some silver.  Well I got neither just finding clad - just over 2 bucks.  I did a lunch hunt yesterday and did find another wheat penny - my 4th in three hunts and a junk ring #9 and 37 cents in clad.

SOME SHORT HUNTS

Had some short hunts the past few days and found the usual clad along with 4 wheat pennies.  My first hunt was at a park north of me - didn't find much there except ring #8(junk).  I did a lunch hunt yesterday and found 2 wheat pennies and little clad.  I met L in the evening and we hunted a city park where I found a wheat - 1917.  It's my first old coin at this park so now it gives me hope that there may be some silver there.  Another lunch hunt today gave me my fourth wheat in 2 days.  Finds in clad just over 2 bucks.

I went back to the school by the local college last evening.  I used the Delta and found over 3 bucks in clad - no old coins - I'm not sure how old this school is but I hope there is some silver or wheat pennies.  I did find a quarter and 2 dimes dated 1966 so it's possible.

WEEKEND HUNT YIELDS SOME FIRSTS

I got a chance to hunt this weekend - only a couple hours on Sat. because of rain and almost all day Sun.  I picked up gogogopher and we went West to some different schools.  The first school had a sign - no metal detectors on school property - a (first) for us so we had to try a park which was picked pretty clean.  I did manage to find a broken watch and very little clad.  So we rode around and tried a different school and ran into another TH.  He is "whammy" on the White's forum so we chatted with him awhile.  He gave us a tip about a school where he had found over 50 silver coins.  Well he must have found all of them because we couldn't find any.  I did manage to find 7 wheat pennies - a new one day record for me and my (first) IKE silver dollar.  So after a slow start it ended well finding close to 5 bucks in clad.  It was also my best coin total so far this year and I just went over a 100 bucks.
