CLAD KIND OF A DAY

I went to a new park where my friend T found a large cent penny.  I just started hunting when a guy approached me and said he was a TH too.  He had an e-trac and joined me in the hunt.  He had been to this park before and found a wheat penny spill.  He found 3 coins but one was a 1908 V nickel.  Me - nothing but clad  and a flat button.  There is a ton of junk in this park but I think there are still some old coins lurking about.  Then I hit a school and again - just clad.
Tomorrow I go back to my friends house and we will hunt some of his neighbors lawns.  This should prove interesting because the houses were built back in the 1800's.  Keeping my fingers crossed.  My friend is loving my DFX.

SILVER STREAK CONTINUES

Got out for a little on Saturday - not exactly the best day being cold and very windy.  I hit the woods and then a school close to home because of the snow pellets mixed with rain.  I did manage a wheat penny.
Today I took a trip to a friends house - the house was built back in the early 1800's - found some wheat pennies and tons on metal.  I was hoping to find that old silver but no such luck.  Then we hit a park close to his house - I did find a merc and more wheat pennies plus over a buck in clad. I plan on taking another trip up that way - maybe next time will be the charm.

GOLD AND SILVER PRICES DROPPING

Gold prices have continued the tumble that began on Friday, trading below the $US1500 an ounce mark – a 4.5 per cent drop, taking the commodity to the lowest it has been since early 2011.
On Friday Goldman Sachs predicted the precious metal has already reached its peak and would begin a steady march down to $US1200 an ounce in the next five years.
The speed of the fall has surprised market watchers, with gold trading below $US1,450 ($A1,387.10) an ounce on Monday and 24 per cent below its record highs of 2011, putting it in bear territory.
The trigger for Monday's pain was a fall in value of $US63 an ounce, or 4.1 per cent, on Friday night to cap off a 6.1 per cent fall for the week.
The explanations and rumors for why the price of gold is falling ranged from positive views about the US economy sparking an end to monetary stimulus; to consortiums of bullion or central banks artificially pushing the price down and selling in large volumes to China.
CMC Markets chief market strategist Michael McCarthy predicts the price will fall by at least one third to $US1,000 an ounce and as low as $US880.

SWINGING FOR THE FENCE - STRUCK OUT

I did a woods hunt today with the area having lots of history to it.  I was hoping to find a 1800's silver coin but only found a memorial penny. Like the deer hunter looking for that trophy buck - I was looking for that elusive seated but....    I knew I wasn't going to find a lot but I thought I would at least something older than what I did, but that's the way it goes.  Maybe next time - I hope.

QUICK AFTER WORK HUNT

I met up with T and we tried an area where we had luck in the past.  He has his new coil - good for trashy areas so he wanted to give it a shot.  Nothing doing today - a whole zinc penny between us - he found after I missed it with junk.  We will be crossing this off our list - on to the next spot.

2 SILVER DAY

On a roll - 2 more silver dimes today.  I started early in the morning with a road trip to a place where a church was built back in the 1820's.  The foundation is still there but unfortunately no coins were.   The weeds were down so I could get in and hunt but found nothing but beer and soda cans.  So I hit a school and had much better luck finding a Rosie and a merc along with 2 wheat pennies.  The coins were deep - around 5 - 6 inches easy.  Most of the pennies I found the dates were in the 60's so I know there is more deep silver there.  Found 2 Canadian pennies that were also dates in the 60's.  Will hit it again soon.
