FOUND ONLY 2 COINS BUT...

It was my last hunt with D as he prepares to move back to California. I met my friend M and he took us to a spot in the woods by his house. It was my second trip there - had luck the first time finding silver and did again finding only 2 coins but 2 nice coins - a Ben half dollar and Washington quarter about 6 inches apart. I found the quarter first then rechecked the area and got the half dollar hit. D managed on the way out to find a mercury dime. M who is in to relics found a nice oil can so we all made out.   D and I went to lunch and say our goodbyes - he has been finding gold in CA so I know he won't miss this state. Wish him well.

SATURDAY HUNT WITH D

I met up with D and we went back to the school where K's daughter found the seated half. I managed some wheat pennies and clad while D found a 1942 Washington, wheat pennies and silver necklace. My wheat pennies are pretty well beat up - they were deep around 8" down. No idea about the dates - will try and clean them to see.

BONUS DAY FRIDAY

I took the day off so I could take my daughter back to college to take her final test for the year.   After I went back to the spot where I was on Wednesday to try it again without the rain. I found mostly clad but did on the last dig managed to pull silver - a mercury dime.
D is back from California so I hope to get out with him today. It rained through the night so the ground should be primed for digging.

A HUNT IN THE RAIN

I had the day off yesterday and as soon as I started out - of course the rain started as well.   I went to a spot where I've had found some silver before - no luck but did find a couple of wheat pennies and clad. Also found what looks like to be a girl scout pin.   Didn't hunt long - the detector is more water proof than I am.

SLOW WEEKEND

I met up with T and K on Saturday morning in a spot where K has had very good luck. His daughter found a 1876 seated half dollar so T and I were hoping for some good stuff. The ground was as hard as a rock and pinpointing was a problem for me and T. We had a hard time finding our targets - not a good day. I found some clad and 2 beat up wheat pennies and T and K didn't fare much better. Will have to go back when the ground is moist - K said that's when he found his good stuff.
Sunday I went back to my dime trifecta spot and couldn't find a coin.   The ground was still moist but it was hard to read because there's so much junk in the ground - like trying to read morse code - I did end up with a wheat penny and quarter before the storm came.   Not a lot of coins but good to hunt with T and K again.

FIRST SIVLER QUARTER

I started early then got a call from my brother. So I packed it in and met him for breakfast. After several of hours we went out separate ways. I tried a spot that has been hit hard but managed to find my first silver quarter of the year and clad.   Then I hit a spot where a school use to be and found 3 wheat pennies. Overall a good day plus the weather was fantastic.

My brother is in town for my niece's dance recital so I hit some woods early. Wasn't expecting to find much and that held true finding clad and a wheat penny and not much else. Did find an old stop watch that had a date on the back of when it was repaired.   I got an extra hunt in on Friday as I worked at my old school and went out on my break. Again just clad but always good to swing the detector.
