TOOK ADVANTAGE OF THE NICE WEATHER

I met up with T the last 2 days and we took advantage of the nice weather to do some detecting after work.  Monday T had a good day finding a V- nickel and some wheat pennies while I found clad and yesterday I found a wheat penny and we both also had clad. 
Today will be another nice day but we both can't make a day out of it. 
Snow is back in the forecast for Friday.

FIRST SILVER OF NEW YEAR

Saturday I was going to meet up with T but he couldn't make it so I hunted the park by his house.  I managed to find my first silver coins for 2018 - a Canadian dime and a Rosie. The Canadian dime is in the 1800's.  Also got a wheat penny. 
Sunday I did meet up with T and we hit several old spots - I found a wheat while T had a good day finding a barber quarter and dime.
I sold my V3X and now hoping to get the AT Max since my Pro died and I have 4 coils for that type machine.  I hope to order soon.

I did manage to get some metal detecting in over the holiday weekend but not much to write about.  I found a wheat penny, some junk jewelry and clad.  I met up with S on a couple of days and he had much better luck - he's getting use to his new ATMax.  The weather could have been warmer but you got to take what you can get here.

MAYBE THIS WEEKEND

Well I hope everyone had a nice Valentine's day yesterday - I did and the weather was also nice.  It's supposed to get over 50 degrees today and he temp should be above freezing the next few days so I'm hoping lots of the snow melts.  Keeping my fingers crossed.

ANOTHER WINTER STORM

Another winter storm is upon us.  They are calling for 5 - 10 inches today and some more tomorrow.  But the good new is that it may be warming up a bit but with all the snow it may be a while before getting out and swinging the detector.

BUFFALO, WHEATS AND CLAD

Saturday I met up with S and we hunted a local park.  The ground was a little frozen but we could dig.  Both of us found a buffalo nickel and I also got a wheat penny and not much else.
Sunday I suggested to try a school and met S there.  I managed 4 wheat pennies, lots of clad and a skeleton key while S found a silver quarter, buffalo nickel and silver cross.  It's neat that we can dig in January.

FIRST HUNT OF 2018

I got my first hunt of 2018 in on Saturday - I met up with S and we hit a local park.  The ground is still snow covered - about 5 to 6 inches and lucky for me there was a clear patch of ground.  I managed to hunt this area - probably 20 by 30 feet and found my first coin - a clad dime plus some other clad.  I tried hunting in a wooded area then the park but the snow was just too deep - I wasn't really getting many signals.  S managed some clad too but the snow won out and it was a short hunt - but at least we got out.  Hoping for better this coming weekend as the temps will warm up for most of the week but possible snow on Wednesday.
