One way you may gain permission to search private property without asking, is - go to your local police station and volunteer your detecting services to the community to help find lost jewelry, wedding rings, etc. One of my son's friend's is a policeman and I let him know that I am available anytime. The police have seen me hunt and should be more friendly when they "see you" especially when you have offered to help them better serve the community. I've have yet to have a problem. To find things for people, free of charge, you may be offered rewards and given permission to search entire yards, in return for my small effort. I hunt at the local town hall park/playground where I have found many rings and coins and also may be helping a co-worker whose husband lost his wedding ring.

NOTHING CHANGED
Same old story
- cold weather
and snow. Still doing some research
but even that gets a little tiresome too
. The weather may be warming up by next week, but there is still a lot of snow and no telling how hard the ground is
. But when the time comes to get out and hunt, I should have a few places to try

TIP OF THE WEEK - CLEANING PENNIES
Here's one way to restore dug Lincolns and Indians pennies. After cleaning off the dirt, put a drop of Tabasco Sauce on the penny. After about 5-10 seconds wipe off - shiny as new. There's some sort of chemical reaction that the copper reacts to the pepper sauce. Caution! If you have a penny you believe is very valuable "DON'T" do this - its better left uncleaned.
STEELERS GO DOWN - MORE RESEARCH
Well I watched my Steelers go down in the super bowl last night
, so now I can really concentrate on more research. Again the weather is going to colder midweek so and with the new snow fall it will be awhile before anybody around here gets out
. I getting anxious to get out but I know all I can do is research for now.

WINTER STORM
Another winter storm approaching
, can't seem to get out of this pattern. Only 3 days of hunting in Jan. and it's not looking good for Feb. anytime soon
. I hope there is a thaw but I'm not counting on it and I hope the rodent doesn't see his shadow tomorrow so spring can come early and I can start swinging the detector again
