FIRST EVER GOLD

Went to a couple of city schools - one new one I've hunted before.  The new school I didn't find much only 2 dimes - there wasn't a lot of ground to cover so I went to the second school.  I've had luck there with wheat pennies - which I did find one 1954, some jewelry and a 14k gold cross - my first ever gold.  I thought I found my first silver of the year but it was a 1966 quarter. I also found $2 and 3 cents - 5-q, 7-d and 8 pennies 20 coins - 21 total.   Also found another key - lost count on them.

AFTERNOON HUNT

After running my son around I went to one of my better schools and did a short hunt.  I found 2 bucks and 17 cents,  a canadian dollar, a 1955 wheat and a 1949 nickel.  Still looking for my first silver coin of the year - hope I can end the drought soon.  My take was 6-q, 3-d, 6-n and 7 pennies for 22 coins - 25 total.

ANOTHER LUNCH HUNT

Went out at lunch time again yesterday this time bringing the White's.  Found 29 cents 2-d, 1-n and 4 pennies.  At least I found some coins this time.  Then I tried a high school only finding a penny.  My batteries were very low so I think that played a part in not finding more.  I found a grand total of 30 cents.  8 coins

NO COINS TODAY

It's finally a nice day so I went down by the Erie canal to hunt.  I brought the delta - the ground still has some snow on it and the ground is still wet but I did manage to find some areas to hunt.  NO luck -  had some hits but could not find the target.  I then went to the park and give it a quick shot - only finding a bayer company bottle on top of a target I couldn't find again.  At least I got out - next time I will bring the IDX and hopefully get some coins.

PARK HUNT

Went back to my favorite park, managed to find 3 more wheat pennies 2-1944 and a 1952-d.  I also had an eyeball pocket spill finding a buck 26 and found another quarter - 1-d and 5 pennies.  My total finds were a buck 66.  I know there is silver still there - just need to find it. 16 total coins.  Also found a game token and a central bus token.

TIP OF THE WEEK - BRING YOUR DETECTOR

No matter where you go, to a friends, across or out of town - ALWAYS take the detector along. Some of the greatest spots open to you are when we don't expect it.  Plus it may come in handy - example when at a party  I was asked to find a ring someone had lost - which I found. Now that it is warmer,  I always keep my detector in my truck hoping to find a spot to try or hunting during my lunch.  Like the lottery - you never know.

VERY SHORT HUNT

Went back to a school where I've had good luck finding wheats and a silver dime.  I hunted for a very short time -  (1) too cold, -  (2) the ground was way to wet and  (3) my hands started to freeze.  But I did manage two nickels.  I will have to wait until the ground dries some more.  I'm finding old dates 1957, 1964 but on the wrong coins - nickels and pennies.
