For the first time I didn't want to get out and hunt. The ground is just dry, hard and my detector will only go a few inches down. We need rain and need it badly. It's no fun digging and the ground is like powder once you break the surface. I'm praying for rain the week - let's hope it does.

SATURDAY HUNT YIELDS WHEAT PENNIES
I went for a ride Saturday morning to a place a friend showed me - a lot that used to be a school. He has had luck finding silver there this was my second attempted - got skunked the first time. Had some better luck finding 2 wheat pennies and some clad. The ground is very dry and digging is down right terrible. My targets weren't very deep - can't wait to get some rain and try it again.

VERY SLOW WEEKEND
Saturday morning I tried the beach before the heat arrived - not much in the sand - only some pennies and dimes. Haven't had much luck here but the ground is rock hard and the sand is easier to dig. We did get some rain Sunday morning and I decided to hunt a local school in the afternoon. The rain did nothing for the ground - managed only 3 pennies but one was a wheat. All the hits were shallow about a couple of inches down. Will post pics of the finds later - We could use days of steady rain to soften the ground but it's back to the 90's tomorrow.

SUNDAY HUNT IN THE WOODS
I was feeling tired after a long day and night Saturday and finally got some energy and hit a wooded area close to home. I did manage wheat penny #53 and some clad - not much else. The ground is really hard and very dry - need some rain to make detecting easy again.

SATURDAY HUNT
I went to my family reunion and played golf in the morning instead of detecting due to a fine rain - off and on. The sky cleared by the 6th hole and my golf game is nothing to write about. I did manage to get out to the local high school after supper find just under a buck in clad and a silver ring. The ground there was like a rock - very hard to dig - we need some rain soon.

BACK TO THE BEACH
With the day off yesterday I hit the beach again early in the morning. I had a little better clad day finding coins both in the sand and on the grass. Still no jewelry. I wanted to try an afternoon hunt but it was just too hot. Plus the ground is dry and hard - we are in need of some rain which never seems to come once predicted. It was nice to hunt in the middle of the week.
