HOT SPOT GIVES UP SILVER AGAIN

I had to go sub at my old school this afternoon and wanted to hunt it after I finished work.  But they were having a track meet so I decided to go by my "hot spot" and give it a try.  First find was a wheat penny then a clad dime.  I got a decent hit and found a mercury dime - my sixth silver coin from this area.  I hunted about an hour.

Wednesday finds

VERY SLOW SUNDAY

I started at a school Sunday morning then got a text from a friend about hunting a house built in the 1870's so I met up with him.  The main road was now the driveway and we started to hunt along that then went to an area where the barn was.  My friend found a couple of clad coins and I found a zincoln. There was a ton of metal plus the power lines over head made it difficult to detect - lots of noise. We hope to go back and hunt by the house - which we didn't get a chance to do.  Then I briefly hunted my friend's property which is also old - no luck - I think he found everything. Then I went to watch my Steeler's play and lose - hopefully next Sunday will be better - detecting wise - the Steeler's are off next week.  I did find 2 pennies at the school so 3 overall - not worth the coin post.

PAST COUPLE OF HUNTS

I went out late Wednesday night and Saturday morning - not much for finds - some wheat pennies and little clad.  Wednesday I hit my "hot" school finding 2 more wheat pennies - hope there is more silver there and Saturday morning I hit the school where I've found plenty of wheat pennies and was hoping for deep silver - but my luck some guy was setting up for kiddie soccer so I had to go - back into the woods down the road and found a wheat penny there.  We've had lots of rain and now the ground  has moisture again so hoping to be digging deep.  I did manage nickel find but it was on the surface so I still haven't dug a nickel with the safari.

RAIN

Finally got some well deserved rain yesterday - it rained most of the day so I hope it put moisture back into the ground.  Will have to check it out after work - you can tell fall is coming - now it's getting dark by 7 o'clock.

BACK TO THE WOODS

Sunday I wanted to try a school where I've found lots of wheats and a silver nickel.  Was hoping to use the safari to see if I could find some deep silver but there was a baseball game going on.  So I hit the woods/park down the road.  I text a friend to see if he could hunt and met me later.  We tried the woods for a while - he finding a ton of junk and clad and I found a couple of wheat pennies and clad pennies.  I still want to hit the school but may have to try on a Saturday - I will post pics of the wheat pennies later.  I had a 1926 wheat but it wasn't in my bag so I don't know where it went.  I also found a flat button and my 2 cents in clad.

OLD SPOTS - NEW COINS

I brought the safari to some old spots where I've had luck in the past with silver and older coins.  Must be I found them all - only managed a couple of wheat pennies and a King George canadian penny.  I was hoping for some deep silver finds but no such luck.  Will have to try some other areas where I've hit silver.  Still looking for my first nickel.

SUNDAY HUNT - BACK TO REALITY

Well I tried a different school Sunday morning but where I have found silver and wheats.  No silver but did manage one wheat penny and clad. So I went back to my "hot spot" and gave it another shot.  This time no silver and very little coin.   I went to try a school this afternoon but it's soccer season and all the fields were being used.  Gives me time to see where I'll go this weekend.  Still looking for my nickel with the safari.
