WEEKEND HUNT FINDS SILVER

I went to a new place to hunt - another wooded area hoping to find some older coins.  No such luck - I did find a quarter and penny - clad of course and some poison ivy.  Got to watch where I'm hunting.
Sunday morning I went back to the old school that has been hot for finding silver.  The ground is now nice and moist and the detector is going deep.  I managed clad - 3 wheat pennies and a silver quarter - about 8 inches down.  Most of the coins were deep.
In the afternoon I went to a friend's house that was built back in the 1800's.  I found a silver washington there before but no such luck again.  Just some pennies and a clad dime.  Maybe next time.

STREAK ENDS AT 3 BUT...

The end came Tuesday after finding 1800 coins 3 days in a row.  My friend and I didn't find much but I did manage to find a wheat penny - #100 for the year.  I not worried too much about finding the clad anymore though I found 2 memorial pennies, but trying to find the older coins and silver.  The year was kind of a wash out due to the hot summer.  So I may as well see what the woods and hopefully some private property have to offer.

BACK TO THE WOODS ANOTHER 1800 COIN

I met my friend again after work to try the woods where I found my 2 cent coin.  Still haven't found the foundation yet but are finding coins.  I found my 3rd 1800 coin - a 1865 Indian penny - my first this year and my friend found the first silver - a 1893 Canadian dime.  So now we know that there is silver there. Between us that's 4 1800 coins - he also found a wheat penny.  We could find more once the weeds go down. We may try it again later in the week.

ANOTHER1800 COIN

I went back to the woods this afternoon and gave it another shot.  I''m hoping to find an old silver coin back in the 1800's but instead found an unusual coin - a canadian penny.  I find canadian coins all the time but not back in the 1800's - still I'll take it.  It means there are more old coins to be found - maybe even silver.  This penny was made from 1850 to 1857 only so it's in that time frame.  Too bad the date has a huge dent on it - so I'll never know the exact age.
Saturday I went back to where I found all the wheat pennies - again hoping to find silver but only found another wheat and a 1947 nickel.  The silver is calling - just have to find it.

ONE OFF THE LIST

I met a friend after work to try and find an old foundation in the woods.  The weeds are still too high but did some hunting anyway - managed one coin but it was a good one.  I found my first 2 cent piece - 1869.  Will be hitting this spot again once the weeds go down.

MY BEST WHEAT DAY

I traveled on Sunday to a new park for me - looked promising on the map but when I got there - first there were guys playing football and second - it looked like the park had been filled.  I did hunt next to the tot lot and when I dug - yep filled in dirt - rocks, junk etc. So I hit a spot where an old school had stood and found nothing there.
Monday after spending time with the daughter and son I finally got out to hunt.  I hit one of my favorite parks and started out well finding 4 wheat pennies and a zinc.  A gentleman I met before came out and asked how I was doing - told him about the wheats and he told me what he had found - barber quarters and an Indian.  So I hit an area I barely hunted before - I was hitting wheat after wheat and some clad.  I was hoping a silver popped in but no such luck.  I ended the day with 10 wheat pennies - a new record for me.  I will hit this spot again - maybe some silver will show up.  Also found a 1942 nickel.

HAD A GOOD MONDAY

Sunday wasn't a good day but Monday was much better - will have more details when my wheat pennies get done soaking and I can get a picture of them.  I was hoping to get silver in the mix but no dice.
