IS IT EVER GOING TO END????

Well the snow just keeps coming - another couple of inches today and not warming up anytime soon.  It's like the winters of old - wish they would stay in the past.  Hopefully the weather does a u turn and it starts to act like spring.  I have some new areas to try and want to revisit some old ones with the deep frost line - moving some things around.  Time will tell.

FIRST HUNT - FIRST COIN IS SILVER

Well my first hunt of  2014 started with a bang.  My first coin find was a silver Rosie and an added bonus was a Washington quarter in the same hole so my first 2 coins are silver.  Hope this is a sign of the year ahead.  Also found a wheat penny and clad one before moving to a different park.  Did manage a wheat there  - the ground is like concrete - plus the first park was on a hill which made it hard to stay on your feet.  D and I wanted to stay out longer but it was just too much work to dig.  The frost line is about 4 - 5 inches down.

I was hoping to get out this weekend for my first hunt of the year but a snow storm has ended that.  Got about 5 to 6 inches of new snow so will have to wait for the January thaw ( if we get one).  It supposed to be in the 30's on Sunday - I don't mind the cold - the snow is just too deep.

GOALS FOR THE NEW YEAR 2014

2013 was my best year so far - finding 50 silver coins and over 260 wheat pennies.   My goal is that I can top that but it will be a challenge.  I did manage to cross off some coins from the wish list - finding my first seated dime, a Ben Franklin half, and getting my first dime trifecta.  I also found my first gold ring.
So in 2014 I hope to get another seated but this time not a dime,  still looking for a barber quarter, more 1800's coins (only 2 last year), and more jewelry. I was skunked with dollar coins so either old or clad would be nice.   I plan on doing water detecting this year since I got the AT Pro and some more travel.  I plan to hunt with T, K, J and D so between us we have some nice areas to detect.   I will be doing research again and try to get permission to hunt private property.
I look forward to the new year - and will take advantage of my opportunities when ever I can get out or find a place to hunt.  I wish everyone a safe and successful hunting season.
