FRIDAY HUNT

I took Friday off from work to take care of some errands.  After I completed my one task and since I was in  the area - I hit a park that D and I detected for a quick hunt.   D found silver our last trip so I was hoping for the best.  Not to be - just little clad and a wheat penny.   So I went on to finish my errands.

SILVER SUNDAY

I met up with J and we hit my hot spot from last year - most of it is still pretty wet and we were limited to where we could hunt.  I did manage to find some silver - my 3rd coin this year and second dime.  The only bad thing this time of year is that it's muddy and everything gets dirty.  The week is supposed to be nice with little rain so hopefully things dry out some.  Also found some clad.

FINALLY GOT OUT YESTERDAY

It's been a long time coming but I managed to get out and do some metal detecting.  I hit a park - some of the ground was still frozen but there were spots that I could dig.  My first find was a wheat penny then clad.  It felt good to get out and swing the detector again.  This week looks promising so I hope that winter is finally over.

GAVE IT A SHOT

Well the weather was decent - not too cold but a strong wind, some of the snow is gone so I went to a park just to see if I could dig in the ground - nope still frozen.  The next couple of days it's going to be cold but then hopefully a warming trend.  Maybe by the weekend the ground may soften enough to at least dig the surface.

IS IT EVER GOING TO END????

Well the snow just keeps coming - another couple of inches today and not warming up anytime soon.  It's like the winters of old - wish they would stay in the past.  Hopefully the weather does a u turn and it starts to act like spring.  I have some new areas to try and want to revisit some old ones with the deep frost line - moving some things around.  Time will tell.

FIRST HUNT - FIRST COIN IS SILVER

Well my first hunt of  2014 started with a bang.  My first coin find was a silver Rosie and an added bonus was a Washington quarter in the same hole so my first 2 coins are silver.  Hope this is a sign of the year ahead.  Also found a wheat penny and clad one before moving to a different park.  Did manage a wheat there  - the ground is like concrete - plus the first park was on a hill which made it hard to stay on your feet.  D and I wanted to stay out longer but it was just too much work to dig.  The frost line is about 4 - 5 inches down.
