Meet a couple of friends after work and we hit my hot spot. My friend T was the big winner finding 2 silver quarters while J and I found wheats and clad. Hopefully I have better luck this weekend. My friend K just got back from New Hampshire and he had some fantastic finds - a morgan dollar, 2 cent coin, seated liberty, some Indian head pennies and a ton of clad. We plan to go there some time - can't wait. Will post my findings later - not much to show.

WEEKEND HUNTS - SILVER SLUMP OVER
Will up date findings for Thursday and post weekend hunts. I did manage 5 wheat pennies Thursday with T - it was just one of those days - the silver was not to be found. And today hunting same area I find 2 mercury dimes and 3 wheat pennies. What a difference a day makes.
Saturday I met up with a new hunter - J, - I went to his house and he drove around his neck of the woods. We stopped at a school and saw someone outside so I approached him to ask how old the school was. After a brief conversation he let us hunt his land where 2 old house use to stand. But no luck finding anything - then we got permission to hunt an old ball field owned by the fire dept. Found lots of clad but nothing old. We then hit another school - again clad and then my hot spot - J found a rosie and again I was skunked of silver.
This morning I was determined to make up for the silver slump so back to the hot spot. And I did - manage to find 2 mercury dimes and some wheat pennies. Only hunted for a short time as it began to rain and another hunter D called me about a spot where he found a shield nickel, 2 buffalo's and 2 Indians included an 1879. So I met up with him but we managed only clad. The ground is very dry so we will wait until it rains and try it again.

BROKE SILVER RUN
Went back to my hot spot and met T there. This is my first real hunt that I did not find a silver coin. I hunted a couple of hours - just some wheats and clad. T found no silver either. I hope the spot isn't drying up. There is a field yet that needs to be detected - an old ball diamond use to be there with a wooded back stop. Can't wait to try that in the fall. Will post findings later.

FOUND FIRST EVER BEN FRANKLIN HALF
The hot spot is still giving up silver - today I found my first ever Ben Franklin half dollar. Was about 5 inches down and read between 89 -90. Thought it might be a nail again but decided to dig it - glad I did. Also found 5 wheat pennies and just over a buck in clad. It's getting harder to find silver now - but I know it's still there.

MORNING HUNT LEADS TO SILVER
I went back to my hot spot with my new toy and managed to find silver. Also found 2 wheat pennies and some clad. I'm starting to get use reading the screen and listening for the tone. I had some high 90 readings but they were all nails. My quarter reading was between 83 and 85. I need to get out some more and practice on some ground that doesn't have as much trash.

HEAT WAVE
Going to be in the 90's again today - just too hot to get out and detect. May get a chance Saturday morning - it's going to have to be early. Really can't complain about the heat - it won't be much longer and that white stuff will be flying around.

WEEKEND HUNTS
Saturday I went to my hot spot - again it didn't disappoint. I manage a couple of silver dimes and my best wheat day ever finding 27. I found them in about a 3x3 radius thinking that some kind of game was there. They use to hold field days there in the past. Also got some clad and my new detector arrived - a white's V3X.
Sunday I went to a school where I've had good luck with the silver using my new V3X. I put it on deep silver mode - just found the clad quarter and ET. So I went back to the hot spot and use both deep silver and coin mode and found another silver dime and clad one. I wasn't getting a ton of hits until I adjusted the ground balance. I will have to do that more often and then I watched some video's and made adjustments to the detector. Now all I have to do is turn it on and go.
