FIRST HUNT - NOT

I was hoping to get out this weekend for my first hunt of the year but a snow storm has ended that.  Got about 5 to 6 inches of new snow so will have to wait for the January thaw ( if we get one).  It supposed to be in the 30's on Sunday - I don't mind the cold - the snow is just too deep.

GOALS FOR THE NEW YEAR 2014

2013 was my best year so far - finding 50 silver coins and over 260 wheat pennies.   My goal is that I can top that but it will be a challenge.  I did manage to cross off some coins from the wish list - finding my first seated dime, a Ben Franklin half, and getting my first dime trifecta.  I also found my first gold ring.
So in 2014 I hope to get another seated but this time not a dime,  still looking for a barber quarter, more 1800's coins (only 2 last year), and more jewelry. I was skunked with dollar coins so either old or clad would be nice.   I plan on doing water detecting this year since I got the AT Pro and some more travel.  I plan to hunt with T, K, J and D so between us we have some nice areas to detect.   I will be doing research again and try to get permission to hunt private property.
I look forward to the new year - and will take advantage of my opportunities when ever I can get out or find a place to hunt.  I wish everyone a safe and successful hunting season.

LAST HUNTS FOR THE YEAR

Well I did manage to get out this weekend - will be the last hunts for the year - hit the canal Saturday and a park with D on Sunday.  Didn't find much - just clad but overall I had my best year metal detecting.  I found 50 silver coins and over 260 wheat pennies.  Plus I got some coins off the wish list - and have some areas to hunt in the spring that look very promising.  I will have the final tally soon and my goals for the new year.   It will hard to top this year with the silver but now that I have the AT pro, I will be getting in the water next year - hopefully finding some nice coins, jewelry etc.  Looking forward to that and maybe getting out in January to start the new season.

SILVER IS NICE BUT GOLD IS BETTER

Well we got a break here in central New York with the temperature in the 50's and most of the snow gone, D and I went park to a city park.  D has been doing well with his new coil and has found lots of silver with it.  He found some last week where we both have hunted before and only found wheat pennies.  Again today he found silver but I did upstage him and found my first ever gold ring.  10k  - almost didn't dig it because of all the bottle caps I  was finding but glad I did.  I found some wheat pennies and almost another piece of gold - a medal but 14k gold plated.  Still over all I can't complain - got out in December and found gold.  Nice Christmas gift.
