Well the snow has finally arrived and it looks like I won't be going detecting for a while. But it was a very good run hunting into the early part of January. So now it looks like hitting the research trail and finding some new spots for the spring.

RAIN ON SUNDAY
Woke up early Sunday to see that it was raining. It rained for most of the morning until early afternoon then the sun was hit and miss. I just spent time with the family and watched some football. Going to be colder this week - hope the ground doesn't freeze.

SECOND SILVER FOR THE NEW YEAR
I hit the same park now for the last few weeks and I found my 5th silver coin there - 2nd this year along with another wheat penny and some clad. I like getting out but the down side is that it's very muddy. But finding silver makes it a little easier to tolerate.

FIRST SILVER FOR 2016
I went back to the spot where I hunted yesterday and didn't find a lot of coins but did find my first silver for the new year - a mercury dime. I found just one more coin - a clad dime but I'm on the silver score board. Again it was cold but well worth it.

FIRST HUNT OF 2016
There may be some snow on the ground but I went out for a couple of hours this morning to do some detecting. The ground is not frozen so I will be out there until it does or the snow is too deep. I did manage my first wheat penny for the year and also a dollar coin. Hope to try again tomorrow.

HAPPY NEW YEAR - GOALS
HAPPY NEW YEAR AND HAPPY HUNTING
2015 was an interesting year - my hunting buddy moved to California, found my second ever 1800's silver coin and nothing from the bucket list.
Hopefully this year I can scratch off some coins from the list. That elusive barber quarter is still evading me so that's #1 for this year. Gold always makes the list and I'm hoping for a cap bust. I did manage over 40 silver coins and 150 wheat pennies plus some large cents. The nickel count was down - no V nickels last year. Looks like travel again is in the cards along with research - I did find some new spots and a couple panned out. As alwasy I'm looking forward to the new year - hoping to take advantage of my opportunities when ever I can get a chance to find a place to hunt and enjoy the great outdoors. I wish everyone a safe and successful hunting season.

RAIN OUT
Never got the chance to detect yesterday as it rained all day. Can't complain - it could have been snow. It may warm up later in the week so detecting is not out of the question.
