I made my yearly trip back up north to see my brother and hopefully get some detecting in. I only managed about 20 minutes of swinging the detector - it was very cold and just didn't have the time. We stayed busy the weekend so the school I wanted to hit will have to wait until next spring. I hope to have a new detector by then - time will tell.

NO SILVER BUT FOUND SOME OLD COINS
Saturday morning was a cold, frosty start but I hit the park next to T's house and I found some nice coins. I was limited to my hunting area due to a football practice but the lead me to where I found 2 Indian head pennies and 2 V nickels. I also got a couple of wheat pennies in the mix plus a junk gold color ring.
Sunday morning was warmer but wet after raining all night. The wind didn't help matters much - it was difficult to detect. S and I hit a city park - I manage 4 wheat pennies, old bus token and possible silver ring - no markings but could be home made and clad. At least we got out.

SILVER SATURDAY - WASHOUT SUNDAY
It was a busy weekend for me going to a pig roast on Saturday and rain(honey do list) on Sunday but I did manage a morning hunt before the roast. I stayed close to home and I found another mercury dime along with 4 wheat pennies plus over 2 bucks in clad. The roast was great.
Sunday the expected rains came so I did work around the house that needed to get done. Fall has officially arrived now with the cooler temps but that's okay - now it's detecting weather.

A 3 SILVER WEEKEND
Saturday I had a meeting for work so I stayed close to home hitting a near by school - found lots of wheat pennies in the one area but not silver until now. Before the meeting I found a Rosie and six wheat pennies, after I found a mercury dime and 6 more wheat pennies plus clad and a dog tag.
Sunday I met S and we tried again - no silver but 5 more wheat pennies. We then hit a ball park where I found a mercury. S wanted to hit the spot where we were last week so we went back to it. he found a wheat with lots of clad and I found clad. But I can't complain finding 3 silver dimes, 17 wheat pennies, over 5 bucks in clad for the weekend. Also found lots of nickels, getting use to Makro now for finding them.

ANOTHER MOSTLY CLAD WEEKEND BUT...
I started out on Saturday at a local park after a few hours I noticed another person metal detecting so I went over to him (S) and we found out we are on the same web site. So we hunted and chatted a bit together, then we noticed another hunter arrived and stayed to himself. I had to leave so I went over and introduced myself to the other hunter - he was from Utica and part of the EARTH group. He said he like to get out to the old parks and hunt while I said we should be the ones going to his location - the group has found lots of old coins and relics.
S and I made plans to meet on Sunday at my old school where I worked and where S graduated from to try our luck. We each found wheat pennies, some jewelry and lots of clad. I had my best nickel day in a while finding 8. We plan to meet up again - maybe finding some silver the next time.

FINALLY A SILVER WEEKEND
It's been a long time coming but I finally found my first silver coin in quite a while. We had lots of rain this past weekend so I stayed close to home and hit a local school on Saturday. I was on a roll finding 5 wheat pennies then a mercury dime along with another wheat and clad. The rains came and I went back out after and found nothing.
Sunday it was rain again and I went out after it stopped. I tried a spot where I've had luck before finding a wheat penny then a home owner came over to see me and said I could hunt his property. His house was built back in the mid 1800's but my luck of finding stuff at houses held up as I only found a clad dime and junk. But I welcomed the opportunity to hunt the property and the owner said I could go back anytime which I will.
Monday, holiday was mostly rain and when I was ready to try after a break in the weather it opened up again so no detecting yesterday. But I can't complain since I did get some silver.

MORE OF THE SAME - DIFFERENT WEEKEND
Saturday it was back to the woods - had a little better luck finding a couple of wheat pennies and clad. My at - pro fell apart on me so I had to quit early - the box came off the grip handle. I will patch it up but I plan on getting the at - max soon.
Sunday I hit a local school with the Makro - I was getting coin hits of at least 6 inches down and finding mostly memorial pennies. There were a couple of wheat pennies mixed in but most of the digs were deep. I wanted to try another spot but got called away. Been a while since I found silver - will be nice when I see that in the hole.
