SUNDAY HUNT

I met up with a friend to hunt an area I've done fairly well in. But before I met him I hit a school down the road.  Managed to find my first "silver" coin there after finding many wheat pennies - a war nickel but I'll take it.  I then met my friend and we hunted in the woods at a park - we ran into another TH - who happens to live by the park.  He hunts it everyday and had found a lot of old coins - no wonder I was having a hard time finding turn on the century coins - he was finding them all. I did find 3 wheat pennies but not much else.  I thought I had a secret spot but there goes that theory.  Back to the drawing board.

WORK - MORE WORK AROUND HOUSE

I didn't get a chance to metal detect today - had to go into work and put final touches on the school so the kids can mess it up in a week.  So I decided to caught up on some chores around the house before fall sets in.  Plan on meeting a friend tomorrow and hopefully find some treasure.

SCHOOL YARD HUNT

Hit the local school a couple of days ago after the rain storm we had.  The ground was softer but not quite as moist as I thought it would be.  I was finding coins deeper - but none of them were old - 2 1965 dimes and 2 1964 nickels along with a 1959 - always the wrong coin.  Going back into the 90's tomorrow - can't seem to catch a break with the rain.

CATCHING UP ON THE ODDS AND ENDS

Went golfing with my son this morning so it took my off my road trip for today.  Instead I went to home depot and got a few things I needed to get some work done around the house.  Got close to 90 again today and the ground is back to being dry and hard.  It is supposed to rain tomorrow and be a little cooler.  Before you know it winter will be here so I hope to get my work done.

FRIENDS HOUSE PRODUCES SILVER

I went detecting at a friends house today - the house is over 100 years old.  We got off to a slow start then found a clad coin or 2.  I went down by the road and got a quarter hit - when I dug the hole I could tell it was silver.  A 1948-s Washington - the s surprised me - don't find many out this way.  Also found 17 cents in clad but I wasn't expecting a big clad count.  I let my friend borrow my Delta 4000 and she found her first wheat penny and now she's hooked.  There is over 45 acres of land - most of it woods and we will hit that in the fall.  So overall not a bad day.

ROAD TRIP WITH LITTLE FINDS

I hit the road Sunday morning - went north to a lake and tried a couple of parks.  The first park looked promising - in the middle of the woods hadn't been used for some time.  The grass was high and it was full of junk - looked like the place had been filled in.  Only found 2 pennies so I decided to try another park.  This one had a small beach. I found 2 quarters and managed ring #10 - silver.  That made up the bad morning and long trip.  Will get the pic of the ring - daughter liked it and took it.

SATURDAY HUNTS

I went to my old school of employment where I did my lunch hunts - managed one wheat penny and a good chunk of clad.  I would have stayed longer but got called to work to get keys for one of my workers.  Then I went to another school again where I had found the merc - this time not much not at all just some clad.  With this last bunch of findings I went over $100 for the year.
